Calm Background

At Perfect Smiles, children are a very important part of our office!

We provide a comfortable, soothing, and fun environment where your child will feel at ease. Our goal is to help your child grow up with a healthy, strong smile! We are here to help guide your child toward a lifetime of great oral health.

My kids are excited about going to the dentist thanks to their amazing staff, friendly environment and how they are treated here. The staff is always smiling, very professional, they take the time to explain what it is they are doing, and always make conversation with my boys. I would highly recommend Southcoast Smiles to anyone! I won't go anywhere else!

  • it is estimated that children in the U.S. miss over 51 million hours of school every year due to dental issues.
  • approximately 17 million children go without dental care each year.
  • tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood — 5X more common than asthma and 7X more common than hay fever.
  • 19% of adolescents aged 2 to 19 have untreated cavities.

We have created two guides to help your children get a head start toward great oral health:

I took my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son and it could not have gone more smooth. The kids loved the tv with headset, the special surprise, goody bag and feeding the fish at the end of the appointment. They did not miss any detail.

All the staff were very kind and made my family’s experience very smooth and not scary for my 4-year-olds. We look forward to coming back again. Appointments ran on time. Lots of fun goodies to take home. Love the idea of giving out fish food to feed the fish in the pond behind the dental office!

We regularly use microabrasion, an incredibly comfortable technology that has the ability to clean out tooth decay without the sounds, heat, pressure and vibration that typically accompany a traditional cleaning or cavity filling. Additionally, smaller cavities can be treated quickly without the use of local anesthesia, which means no needles! We also use laser diagnosis, which allows the dentist to “see” in the small grooves that form in teeth.

Our goal is always to prevent decay before it happens. This is especially important for our youngest patients. One of the best preventative measures a parent can make for their child is to have their hygienist apply dental sealants to their teeth.

A sealant is a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of molars, premolars and any deep grooves of teeth, where most tooth decay occurs. A sealant protects the tooth by sealing these deep grooves, creating a smooth, easy to clean surface.

There is no drilling required to apply a sealant; it is very simply painted on after the tooth has been cleaned. Sealants can last for as long as 3 to 5 years, but should be checked during regular dental hygiene appointments.

Prevention Shield

This was my first visit with my 4-year-old, who has much difficulty with dental visits. This staff was very kind and compassionate and made my son very comfortable. I would strongly recommend this office to anyone who feels anxious about dental work.
